Chapter 15

Freak the Mighty Chapter 15 (What came down the chimney), written by Rodman Philbrick depicts the fear of "Killer Kane". Grimm had a nightmare about "Killer Kane" coming for his son hesitantly the nightmare has come true and without a warning the night before Christmas Eve.

On this seasonal occasion it is Christmas Eve, and the "Fair Gwen", Kevin, Max, Grim, and Gram are gathered for dinner. As they begin, to open their presents they all continuously take turns opening their gifts. As they all had opened their present, Max is the last one to have not opened his present and as Keven is eagerly waiting for him to open the present. Max notices that the box is oddly in the shape of a pyramid. As Max deliberately rips off the wrapping paper, he observes the pyramid that Keven creatively made homemade and as he opens the pyramid it is a dictionary, filled with Kevin's favorite words. The night has ended, and Max has trouble sleeping, but as he is dazed in a deep slumber He is later awakened by a frigid breeze in the "Down Under". Max starts to get up close to a window to she what he was awakened by, when he sees a dark shadow in the distance, and a strong hands clamp over his mouth leaving Max helpless as everyone is asleep.

I enjoyed reading this chapter because I was interested in the beginning by the name of the chapter as I immediately predicted that "Killer Kane" would soon appear to take captive of his son and I questioned what comes down chimneys, who can fit down the slim chimney opening? Santa was my prediction who gave me a clue that it related to the topic of Christmas Eve. I eagerly began to read to find the answer of my prediction and to see if my hypothesis was correct from the title that I had read from, more so it was but substantially it was correct.
